At the AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door 2025 event held at the O2 Arena in London, both premier Women's Championships were defended successfully. Mercedes Mone concluded the weekend by retaining her TBS Championship during this dual-branded event.
The mid-card women's title was contested in an international four-way match, featuring competitors from AEW, CMLL, and Stardom. Mone, the champion, faced off against Alex Windsor, Persephone, and Bozilla. Mone secured her victory by pinning Persephone, who was already in a Sharpshooter applied by Windsor, thus extending her reign that began in May 2024.
AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door 2025 served as a fitting conclusion for Mone, who had participated in two additional matches earlier that weekend for Revolution Pro Wrestling. She also added another title to her collection by winning the Discovery Wrestling Scottish Women’s Championship, marking her ninth championship overall.
Currently, seven of her titles are active, including the AEW TBS Championship, CMLL Women’s World Championship, and RevPro Undisputed British Women’s Championship, alongside titles from various indie promotions across Scotland, Poland, Austria, and Italy. The 2025 Owen Hart Foundation Women’s Tournament title and the Queen of Southside belt are the only inactive titles.
Toni Storm Successfully Defends AEW Women’s World Title Toni Storm retained Women’s World Title at AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door 2025
In one of the co-main events of the AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door 2025, Toni Storm, known as "Timeless," successfully defeated ROH Women’s Champion Athena via submission to retain her AEW Women’s World Championship. An attempted interference by Billie Starkz was thwarted by Mina Shirakawa, who chased her away.
During the match, Storm and Athena exchanged pinfall attempts, with Athena attempting her second O-Face. Storm countered this move into her chicken wing submission, forcing Athena to tap out. While Athena remains the ROH Women’s Champion, her title was not on the line in this match, marking another successful defense for Storm.
Currently, Storm is in her fourth reign as AEW Women’s Champion, having reclaimed the title from Mariah May at AEW Grand Slam Australia in February. She has successfully defended her title against several competitors, including May, Shirakawa, Megan Bayne, and Mercedes Mone.
